Pastor Rocky speaks about how God works according to a timetable and it’s important to be aware of the times and seasons of what He is doing in our lives. As Moses prays in Psalm 90:12, “Lord, teach us to number our days, that we may have a heart of wisdom.”
Here’s a little addendum word of encouragement to consider: The Lord doesn’t number our days according to our genetics, or our family history, our circumstances growing up, our strength and abilities, our health diagnoses, the present circumstances around us, what other people say or expect about us… or even our sins! (Psalm 103:10 – “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.” Read the whole psalm and rejoice exceedingly!)
David marveled at God’s foreknowledge of his life in Psalm 139, including v. 16, how “…in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Another Psalm to meditate on in its entirety and fall prostrate in worship before such an awesome God!) Couple that knowledge with Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” As well as Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Let us be confident that God numbers our days according to His plan to give us hope and a future, according to the path of good works He has prepared for us to walk in, and not according to all those other things, not even our sins and failures. With that confidence, let us press forward to redeem the time and make the most of the opportunities He sets before us!
